Bird's-eye view .. a few lucky campers, including Amy Frasca and Madeline Peterson, snapped up a site on Cockatoo Island, only a few kilometres from Circular Quay, for day one of its inaugural festival on Friday. This is the first time the island, once home to a prison, has been opened to the public in 165 years. There are poetry readings, yoga classes, a laughter club and kids circus at the festival, and bands such as The Waifs, Machine Gun Fellatio and The Wailers also performing. Report - Page 4.
